Steak Soup Supper & Monthly Business Meeting

The fellowship was wonderful and the Steak Soup was GREAT! We were served the soup and french bread at 6:45, followed by our business meeting.

The business meeting was called to order at 7:20 with an "Our Father" and the Pledge of Allegiance. We were given an estimate of $500 made on the sale of the "Keep Christ in Christmas" magnets. The final tally will be determined soon. A discussion followed, and it was determined that we should sell the magnets again next year, when we believe that we will do even better.

Our Grand Knight informed us that we need to get our audit done, and that the new Treasurer and the Financial Secretary should meet with the previous Treasurer to get the materials and show the new Treasurer how to do the audit. Our District Deputy said he would be available to help if they wanted.

The Free Throw Championship is to be on January 25, a Sunday, at 1:00pm at the Community Center. Any boy or girl is eligible, but they must be between the ages of 10 and 14. They will be competing against other youth in the same bracket. The winner of each bracket will move on to the District contest, to be held Feb. 15, a Sunday, at 10:30am at the Believer's Together Center, in Moline. The Regional Contest will be held in Dixon, IL on March 1. Any Knight who would like to help should contact the Grand Knight.

District Deputy Tony gave his report. He was glad we were going to catching up on the audits and the liability insurance report. He also mentioned that the Fr. Betson Council in Moline would be holding a First Degree Ceremony on Jan. 19. We were invited to bring anyone who wanted to become a knight to the meeting, and the paperwork could be filled out at that time. He also showed us the new Form 100, and said that the old green forms would no longer be accepted. We were advised to request the new forms if we did not have any. Our Financial Secretary said he would look into it.

We would like to hold a First Degree Ceremony at either the March or April meetings. More Discussion on this will be done at the February meeting. Please plan on attending to let your voice be heard.

We will be offering a Scholarship again this year. Brother Jack again will be heading up the Committee. Again, if you would like to help decide our next Scholarship winner, please contact our Grand Knight.

Brother Joe brought up that he was donating blood recently and was approached about the Knights sponsoring a blood drive in Geneseo. This would activity would meet one of our Community events. Since the Parent's club just recently held a Blood Drive, it was determined that we would not be able to do something like this until at least March or April, and probably not until May. Brother Joe said he would check on what other groups might be sponsoring a Blood Drive in Geneseo in the near future, and let us know at the next meeting.

Brother Jack approached the council about donating to the St. Malachy Winterfest. We had donated in the past, and he was wondering if we would be able to donate again this year. After some discussion, the members voted to donate $100.00 to the Winterfest.

The meeting was concluded with a "Hail Mary" at 7:55.

Monthly Business Meeting

Our meeting was called to order at 7:05 with an Our Father and the Pledge of Allegiance. Our Financial Secretary gave the Financial report, showing that 25 plus or minus members haven't paid dues yet. We need to have more income to support our scholarship.

The Faithful Navigator of our local 4th degree Assembly, Lowell Gramling, gave a presentation on the 4th Degree and what the 4th Degree Assembly does. He also mentioned that the next Exemplification will be on April 4th.

Under old business, our Free Throw contest will be on the 21st of Feb. and there are 12 boys and 1 girl signed up.

Under new business, we might have a 1st degree candidate, and we have a tentative 1st degree ceremony on May 12. It was also mentioned that there are new Form 100s for anyone who has a possible candidate.

Our District Deputy, Tony Scott, thanked the members for submitting the audit report for the Council. He also mentioned that there will be a 2nd and 3rd Degree ceremony in Milan at St. Ambrose in the middle of May. More information coming on that. The regional Free throw contest will be held in Dixon on March 1st.

No one had any notes for the Good of the Order and the meeting was closed at 7:35 with a "Hail Mary".

Monthly Business Meeting

Our meeting was called to order at 7:05 with the Lords Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 7 members present, along with the District Deputy.

There was no Financial Secretary or Treasurer's Reports and it was brought up that we should keep Shawn and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Information was presented on a Camp-o-rama, to be held on June 12 - 14, at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park, outside Goodfield, IL. For more information, please contact our Grand Knight. There will be Major Degree's held in Rantoul and one in Milan in May. Also, tickets to the Cards / Cubs game to be held in St. Louis on Sunday, Sept. 20 are available. The tickets are $35 with $5 donated to the Knight's Hospital Wing.

Under old business, information was presented as to fundraisers, and possible venues. It was mentioned that the Moose Hall rents for $75. At our 1st Degree on May 12th, We have a possibility of having 3 candidates. Other Fundraisers we discussed, such as holding an extra coffee after the Masses on a Sunday.

No new business was brought up.

Our District Deputy mentioned that there will be a 1st degree ceremony at Christ the King on March 16, at 7:00pm. The Major Degree in the District will be at St. Ambrose in Milan on Sunday, May 17, with the 1st degree at 12:00 noon, and the Major degree ceremony beginning at 1:00pm. It was reported that we should make sure we fill out the Annual Survey for Fraternal Services and Activities. This helps keep our non-profit status. In last October's Columbian Magazine, there was an article that showed the cumulative effort of ALL the Knight's activities. The DD also brought up the 111th St. Convention. The convention will be held on Memorial Day weekend (in May) in Lombard at the Weston Hotel. The Council pays for the Hotel.

The meeting was closed with a "Hail Mary" at 7:35pm.
