Graduation Mass |
| |
We awarded our annual Scholarship this year to: Brandan Boelens, the grandson of our own Jack Dougherty. Congratulations to all the applicants, and the other award winners, for their contributions to their school, church, and country. Our best wishes to all the graduates. We will have pictures soon.

Monthly Business Meeting |
| |
Our meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight with an
Our Father and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Members present were: Grand Knight Greg K., The Financial
Secretary Ryan W., our Treasurer Bryce H., and members
Dan H., Rod R., Jack D., Dave Y., and Reggie
W., along with the District Deputy Tony S.
The treasurer's report was given, and stated that we have $1800
in our checking account and $500 in the savings account, but there
was an outstanding check for the scholarship given during the month
of May. It was also reported that the tax forms for June 2009,
December 2009, and June 2010 will be ready for the Grand Knight to
sign at the next meeting. (These forms are necessary for the Council
to retain its tax exempt status.
The report from the Financial Secretary showed that the Website
has been paid for, and all other fees to be paid are up to date.
It was asked whether we could determine the statistics for the
website. The webmaster stated that that was possible, and that he
would try to obtain them and bring them to the next meeting.
The Tootsie Roll Drive will be held and we will be distributing
them during the Football Game on the last Friday in September. Brice
M. will again be handling the Tootsie Roll Drive for our council.
The parish asked us about our needs for a meeting room, and a
discussion was held about what our needs might be. The Grand Knight
will be giving the parish our suggestions.
There is still a deal for the Cubs/Cardinals game in St. Louis in
August (for tickets only). Contact our past Grand Knight, Greg K, if
you are interested.
In new business, it was brought up that we could have a hamburger
cookout at the Fareway Grocery store, here in Geneseo. Knight Jack
D. will check with Fareway for availability of dates. It was also
suggested that we might have a Trivia Night for a fundraiser. A
couple of the knights had been to one, and they reported that they
have a very good time.
The District Deputy, Tony S, reported that the Soccer Challenge
Medals had finally arrived, and he presented them to Dave Y, our
Knight who was in charge of the Soccer Challenge, who will be
distributing the medals to the winners. The challenge this year will
be help the weekend of September 25 and 26.
There will be a First Degree ceremony held in Rock Island on
Thursday night, June 9th. The District meeting will be held in July.
Finally, he reported that our Council was at +2 for the year in
membership, which puts us in a good position to obtain a Star
Council award.
We held an election of officers, and the following knights were
elected to these positions:
Ryan W. elected as the new Grand
Knight Dave Y.
elected as the new Financial Secretary
Meeting was adjourned at 7:45

Monthly Business Meeting |
| |
Our meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight with an
Our Father and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Members Present were the Grand Knight, Ryan W., our Financial Secretary, Dave Y., our Treasurer, Bryce H., Rod R. Loren M, Dan H., Dave S., Reggie W., and the District Deputy, Tony S. and our Insurance Agent, Jeff.
Notes from the Grand Knight: He will be passing out the Activity Leaders List soon. Oct. 31 will be the Right to Life Coffee and Donuts after the Masses. Our Scholarship Coffee should be a couple of Months later. An FYI - The new parish center has a No-Alcohol Policy in effect.
It was discussed that we should be moving people up through the officers to get more people involved. Also, more individuals would be more likely to become officers if they could see that they were not going to be "stuck" for an interminable period of time.
The Grand Knight stated that we should begin following the correct procedures - namely when addressing individuals during the meetings. Rituals are here for a reason, and we should be following them.
There was no report from the Financial Secretary
The Treasure reported that we have $1300 at the end of June and $500 at Central Bank. He will be obtaining the information he needs to access the Central Bank accounts, and then be closing out the account an moving the money to the Wells Fargo account.
Rod R. wanted to have a fun night after the next meeting - we will be going to play Rolle Bolle, so bring yourself and a new or lapsed member to the meeting, and come have some fun.
Loren mentions that a new member came to a meeting last year, and felt unwelcome at the meeting, so he hasn't been back since. Please talk to other members to make sure they know that we need everyone so that we can become the Council we know we can be.
The District Deputy brought information to our meeting:
- We are starting a new Frateral Year, so he asked us to make sure that we get all our paper work turned in for the previous year. Also, this is a chance for a new start - we are headed in the right direction by bringing back the formal procedures of our meetings
- Tomorrow, Wednesday, ther will be a District meeting, and he would like Geneseo to be represented. Dan H. said he would be able to attend and represent the Geneseo Council.
- The Allouez Council is close to determining to host a Major Degree Ceremony. He would like everyone to get their candidates for major degrees ready so this can be a successful endevour. (Also, in order to be an officer in the Council, the member must be a 3rd degree Knight!)
- He said he would be able to stick around after the meeting to help fill out the forms and paperwork, since we have a lot of new officers.
- He also mentioned that the KC Academy has training sessions for preparing the new officers for the duties of their new positions.
Our Insurance Representative, Jeff, introduced himself and stated that he likes what he saw at the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45.
Respectfully submitted - Reggie W., Recorder.

Monthly Business Meeting |

The Outside guard, Bryce M, shut the doors at 7:05pm.
Member present: Grand Knight, Ryan W., Financial Secretary, Dave Y., Treasurer, Bryce H., Recorder, Reggie W., Outside Guard, Bryce M., Trustee, Dan H., Loren S., and Jack D.
Our meeting was opened with an Our Father and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Financial Secretary Report: No report, but he will be reading through Filling Income Tax. There was discussion about the necessity of filing, and it was determined that, due to new IRS rules, every non-profit must file some form of income tax report. We will not need to pay any taxes, but we must still file.
Treasurer Report: The audits for June '09, Dec. '09, and June '10 are ready for signatures. After obtaining the signature from the Grand Knight, we will be up to date with National. In futher news, in 2010, we made 2 deposits and wrote 3 checks. Due to the low number of items, we will be using an Excel spreadsheet, rather than learning Quicken. Finally, we have a cash balance at the end of July just short of $1900 in the checking account, and $530 in the savings account.
Recorder Report: The minutes of the July meeting were read, and with the correction of Rolle Bolle instead of Boche Ball, the minutes were approved as read.
Tootsie Roll Drive: Bryce M. reported that businesses have been contacted. An order for 9 boxes has been placed. The date for the drive will be the 24th of September, when we will be passing out Tootsie Rolls at the home football game, and the next day, when we will be passing out the candies at the business we have contacted. The calling list will again be used to line up members to pass out the Tootsie rolls. The members will be called 10 to 14 days before the date.
Trustee Report: Dan H reported on his attendance at the District meeting. He said things went well, and reported that there is to be a major degree on October 30th.
The Grand Knight reported that next month, we will be having the Tootsie Roll Drive and the Soccer Challenge. In October, we will have a Chili Meeting (all members are to bring a can of Chili to share and bring a prospective member) and the Right to Life Coffee. In Nov., we are to have a 1st degree ceremony (we want to have 6 new members - the prospective members that were invited to the Chili night.)
He wants to better advertize ourselves to the community. We need to also see what we can do for the Church. Ryan and Dave said they would be meeting with Father P. to deliver the Coffee Pots and they would ask what our Council can do for the Church.
Our Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 with a Hail Mary.
After adjourning, we meet at the Rolle Bolle Courts and have a good time playing Rolle Bolle (some of us for the first time).
